Congregation Beth Israel is Conservative Synagogue with a rich history in Northwest Indiana dating back to about 1908 when the original Kneseth Israel Synagogue was established in Hammond, Ind.
Our members are a warm and welcoming group with a strong emphasis on gathering for worship and socializing, as well as creating community service and Judaic enrichment opportunities. To that end we offer monthly Friday night worship followed by Shabbat dinners and weekly Shabbat morning services.
The current Munster, Indiana home of Congregation Beth Israel was dedicated in 2006.
On April 1, 1975, Kneseth Israel merged with Temple Beth El of Gary and Beth Sholom of East Chicago to form Congregation Beth Israel in the Kneseth Israel building located on Hohman Avenue in Hammond from 1958 to 2004.
CBI is the only Conservative Congregation in Northwest Indiana.
