SISTERHOOD
Our Sisterhood,
along with other committees of the synagogue, helps ensure the life
of our Congregation. Sisterhood is also devoted to the children of
the Congregation through its support of our Religious School. Sisterhood,
by its association with Women’s League
of Conservative Judaism, fosters bonds with Israel and Jews worldwide
and also has a voice in various national, international, religious and
social action organizations.
The Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel is made up of a very vital
and diverse group of women. We are Mothers-to-be, Mothers, Grandmothers,
Great-grandmothers, Stay-at –homes, Professional Working Women
and Empty Nesters. WE ARE YOU!! Our Sisterhood women are bound together
by our devotion to Judaism, the perpetuation of Judaism in our family
and children’s lives, the desire to ensure our Congregation’s
vitality and the support of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism
in all its endeavors. Again, WE ARE YOU!! Our Sisterhood holds Board
and General/Program Meetings once a month. For more information

Our Gift Shop is stocked with beautiful and unique merchandise. If we
don’t have what you want we will make every effort to obtain
the item. The Library is filled with many books and is in the process
of adding many more current, adult, young adult and children’s
additions. Various magazines are also available for perusal. We also
have internet access in the Library The Sisterhood Kitchen is brand
new and very well stocked. It is a pleasure to be in and to work in.
Our Sisterhood has some fantastic cooks who are more than willing to
create our palate- pleasing Luncheons and Dinners. They also are willing
to share their recipes.
Our activities include:
Spiritual--- - Sisterhood Shabbat, Presentation of Bar/Bat
Mitzvah Gifts, providing refreshments for after Selichot services and at the
Break-the- Fast and Shabbat Kiddushim, etc .
Programs---Opening and Closing Programs, “What’s
Hot and what’s Not” in Antiques Luncheon, Social Security and
How It Effects Women Dessert Meeting, Lunch with the Rabbi and others.
Fund Raising---High Holiday Challah and Roses Sale,
Spring Flower Sale, Hamantachen Sale, Simcha and Memorial Cards,
Cosmic Bowling and Pizza Party, Theater Party, “Box of Love” food
care package sale and Dedication/Ad Book and more!
Congregational Support---High Holiday Baby-sitters,
Purchase of Ping-Pong Tables , Luncheons for visiting Cantor and
Artist-in-Residence, Contribution to Congregation’s Camp Ramah
Scholarship Fund, Contribution to Congregation and Purchase of Computers
for our Religious School.
Come and join us! We offer a way not only to connect to Judaism but to
other women , families, children and members of the Congregation and
the Jewish community. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
